Frequently Asked Questions

When does the program begin?

You can begin whenever you are ready! Once you are registered, you'll receive a questionnaire and we will determine your initial training paces. You'll receive your first month's training program and you'll be on your way.

How often do I have to run?

Run Ignited! is your program, designed to fit your lifestyle and help you meet your goals injury free. If, after evaluating your current level, your lifestyle and your goals, we feel that your goal may be too aggressive for the time available, we'll help you modify your goal or timeframe to ensure that your goal is achievable.

When will the informational sessions meet?

Informational sessions are designed to provide in-depth information about topics such as running for weight loss, race preparation, cross-training and running physiology. In addition, each session will introduce one to three cross-training exercises and give you a chance to try them with a trainer. The sessions will be held once a month on a varying schedule in Wetumpka. Meetings will be announced on the website, in the forum and on the calendar.

Where and when are the group runs?

In the winter, group runs will generally be scheduled for weekends. Once daylight savings time is on, runs may be scheduled at anytime during the week. While runs may be scheduled knowing participants' availability, in general, they will be moved around so that local runners can attend at least some of the runs. Group runs may occassionally be scheduled races. Race fees for these runs will be the responsibility of the participants.

What if I don't live in Central Alabama?

Group runs are generally only available in Central Alabama. However, podcasts of the information presented in the informational sessions will be available via the website to registered participants of the program.

What does my program consist of?

We begin by analyzing your current level of running and running goals via a questionnaire and a time trial. This establishes the baseline for your training. Once this is in place, you will receive a training plan for each month detailing runs, optional runs and paces for all runs. You will "meet" with your coach, via on-line chat, phone or in person, to discuss your program for the month.

You'll also receive a schedule for upcoming informational sessions and group runs. Included in your monthly membership is access to the Run Ignited private website with running information and runners' forums. This website will have the podcasts of the informational sessions available to you.

How do I get my initial pace time?

Your initial paces are determined by your coach based on a timed run. If you have run recent races, those times will be factored in. If necessary, you'll be given instructions as to how to run a time trial to be used for pace setting. It is important to run the time trial correctly so that your paces are set for you.

What if I'm not already a runner?

Run Ignited! is designed for those already running a 5k distance. If you can't run 3 miles, please consider our beginners programs, A Season to Run and Running Start!

Do I have to race?

No, of course not! Most runners like the challenge of running in a group and testing their times against themselves or other runners. However, if your goal is personal to you, we'll work with you to help you meet it.

Can I use my program for my whole running group?

No. Your program is designed for you and may be ineffective or cause injury to other runners. Your registration agreement with Ignite! specifically states that you will not use your program to train other runners. You may certainly run your runs with others, but sharing your training plan is not allowed.

You may bring others on the group runs or to information sessions. There is a small fee for runs and the sessions.

How much does it cost?

Run Ignited! is based on a monthly subscription fee. Because we take extra time to get to know you as a runner and work with initial paces and goals during the first few months, the fee is set at $60 per month for the first four months. After 4 months, continuing subscription is $50 per month.

Graduates of Season to Run or Running Start! receive a discount for the first four months.

How do I register?

You can register online and pay with PayPal or print the registration form, complete and mail with your check to Ignite! at the address on the registration form. Your running coach will contact you to set up your initial assessment (time trial) and get you going!
